Deirdre, 53, Dublin, referral for mole on her back
53 year old Deirdre from Dublin had been on a waiting list for a Dermatology Appointment in Beaumont for over a year, her GP had noticed a mole on her back and had referred her to the public Waiting List in Beaumont.
After being on the Public waiting list for over a year Deirdre was subsequently referred to DermView by Beaumount Hospital and had an appointment booked in within a few weeks to have her mole and skin checked.
She tells us that her experience in the DermView Clinic was extremely professional and the cleanliness, infection control and staff were all fantastic.
The mole on my back was tiny, so it goes to show you that you really need to keep an eye out for any changes in your skin.
Everything was explained to me in a clear and concise manner and I was completely aware of everything that was happening during the scans taken by the Nurse in the Carrickmines Clinic.
After the scans the next steps were also made very clear to me and I was aware of what the process was and that someone would be in touch soon.
Altogether I was in the Clinic for just over 20 minutes. Within a very short timeframe after my scans I was given an appointment for a biopsy with Consultant Dermatologist Dr. Rupert Barry.
I was diagnosed with melanoma insitu, early stage melanoma, it was a relief to have been caught early, I had a subsequent appointment to have the melanoma removed. I now have a yearly check-up with Beaumont, Dr. Rupert was also fantastic.
Deirdre added: Overall DermView was a great service and my experience was very positive. I feel great and I am extremely vigilant about my skin now, the mole on my back was tiny, so it goes to show you that you really need to keep an eye out for any changes in your skin.
I would 100% recommend DermView and their services to friends and family.
